Campbell River Community Action Team
In 2020, I was referred to a member of Campbell River Action Team, who was looking for someone to help with a design project. Once we connected, we started our collaboration on building a branding identity and logo for their organization.
Who is Campbell River Community Action Team?
Campbell River Community Action Team (CAT) which focuses on overdose prevention. They are a team of collective people dedicated to combating the current overdose crisis in our local community by using our local resources and peers. Working hard to destigmatize mental health issues, substance abuse, addiction, and re-educate the public’s view of those who are affected by this, they are truly inspiring and do so much work in the Campbell River community.
I’m so thankful for the opportunity to design their logo and truly enjoyed this project. Please take some time to learn about their amazing organization by viewing their website.
This project went through many different stages, originally the project was to create a branding identity that represented community, our local area and finally the healing and restoration that this organization provides. Originally we designed a primary logo, then revisited it to incorporate some Indigenous art created by local Indigenous artist.
Breakdown of the Base logo

The logo was designed with a few different ideas in mind. We wanted to ensure that this logo could represent the community, our local area and restoration.
This is why the logo pictured has a shape representative of a human being, using the sun, mountains and sky to create this shape. The sun represents new beginnings, and the mountains in the logo immediately make me think of our local area as Campbell River looks towards the mainland, with a beautiful mountain range along the west coast. Additionally, I used this “cracked” effect to represent a Japanese technique of fixing pottery with gold, symbolizing the healing, and restoration process. We later incorporated the Indigenous artwork into the sun.
